Verified ReviewerPathetic service Barons Cape Town
I've finally reached the end of the road with VW Barons Cape Town. The service department is pathetic.
I've complained 6 months ago directly to VW and guess what, they still haven't sorted their issues out.
I subsequently aborted my order of the new GTI. It's time to move on!!!
- Very difficult to find any pros these days
- No clout when it comes to after sales service
Preferred solution: Nothing from VW but just to warn the public
Poor Customer Service
Booked wife's VW at Cape Town Waterfront for the first 15,000 service on 13 December. When i made booking I requested getting vehicle at 12h00 as i had a function later.
They confirmed its fine. They did not provide an update on service and I had to contact them to ask if vehicle ready for collection. I only received vehicle at 13h00. Upon collection they said there is a manufacting fault amd meed to replace the window regulator which I said fine and I will bring vehicle back 17th.
I delivered it for the part swap and asked them again to get my vehicle at 12. Again I wasn't informed of progress and I called them at 14h00. They confirmed its done and in the washing bay and I can collect. When I went to collect around 15h30, I waited 45 minutes for the vehicle and then they advised they couldn't replace the part due to a computer fault.
I don't know why they lied as they said the vehicle is done. this type of service is unacceptable and to lie to a customer is even worse. I've driven VW for the past 25 years and we currently have 4 VWs at home.
Is this type of service the norm there? And my vehicle has still not been sorted.

Verified ReviewerPoor service from VW umhlanga, car has been with them for almost a month and still not repaired.
I phoned VW South Africa to complain about the poor service from VW Umhlanga. They informed us that the part had not arrived from Germany, but we had phoned to inquire.
That was last Tuesday, and since then, I have had to follow up with them again as they have not phoned me or given me feedback.
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the poor service from Umhlanga VW. It's almost the 5th week that my car has been there.
Preferred solution: A car that is repaired properly and an explanation as to what the problem was and why t took so long to repair!

Verified ReviewerRHS FRONT WINDOW FAILURE
My glass shattered on Feb 22, 2024, and my car was booked in at VW Hoopers in Durban. They replaced the mechanism and windows, but it has never been good since then.
I have sent it back to them several times, but I am not winning. Instead, it gets worse. I cannot close it in auto mode. It always doesn't reach the top and keeps coming down.
It's irritating, especially when it's raining. I would appreciate it if I could get help regarding this.
Preferred solution: My window to be repaired properly

Verified Reviewer |Regarding my 2022 T cross engine change on a new car
I took my car to Alberton VW. I have been told that they need to change the engine as they think it was running with little oil in it.
My problem is that my car goes there for service all the time, and it reports everything if there's a problem with it. But to my surprise, they are changing a 2-year-old car engine. How is that possible without extending the warranty of that new engine? I feel like it's daylight robbery to me.
I need clarity regarding the warranty, as the car is not second-hand; it's a new car.
I'm the first owner of it. What could cause the engine to be removed if it's not a factory fault?

Verified Reviewer |Absolutely terrible support in terms of supplying spare parts leaving us stranded
On Friday 9 August I was travelling to the Transkei with my 2023 Amarok. My back wheel's weel studs sheared off.
Apparently a new tyre that was replaced by Volkswagen or arranged by them was not properly fastened. Friends towed the caravan to the coast and my insurance towed the car to Mtatha as it was a public holiday. On Monday the car was towed to the Volkswagen garage in Mthatha. I was in contact early with them but they refused to order the wheel studs before seeing the car.
I therefore missed the cut off time for order. Tuesday morning early I was assured that there were no other problems and that the parts will be ordered before the cutoff time. At 11:35 I received a call asking me whether I have paid so that they can order. I said I have received no invoice.
They sent it to me and I paid. At 11:50 I called Assemahle to say that I have paid and sent the POP, however I was only then given the Email which will work for a reply. I was assured however that the parts were ordered before 12:00. They told me the wait for parts is 3 to 5 days.
This leaves me in a terrible position as I am without transport, have meeting dates which I need to get to and other bookings. This for parts which is available and could be put into any overnight courier and be there the next days.I then contacted Customer Services to try and expedite the matter. They said that they will take 24 to 36 hours to respond. I explained the urgency to them as well as how simply this situation can be resolved.
They provided me with a reference number. After 24 hours I phoned customer services who informed me that my case has been provided to somebody who was out of office for some days and is now on the phone and will phone me back. I then phoned the dealership back to find out if there is any information about the parts, ONLY to be told that the cutoff time for orders is actually 11:00 and that the parts were ordered at 11:15 on Tuesday only. The earliest it can arrive is on Friday and then there is no guarantee that it will arrive on time or that they fix it before the weekend and that I can get somebody to transport me the 2 hours to Mthatha.
It is just unacceptable that Volskwagen encourages you to buy their vehicles and then provide absolutely no support when you are in such a dire situation.
And this for 5 wheel studs which cost less than R10 each and which is available. All that is required is for somebody to take a hand out grab the studs and put it into an overnight courier.
User's recommendation: Do no buy Volkswagen as there support service is unacceptable. The previous issue I had on a brand new car resulted in a 6 to 8 week weight for spare parts and I had to buy a second car.

Verified Reviewer |Good service
Friends dealers who provide solutions when their warranty is not covering the issue. The radio seemingly was damaged by some chemical agent when at another service provider.

Verified ReviewerDoesn't honour service plan
We paid for an extended warranty. It's now due for its third annual service.
Because we were late in booking the second annual service, they now refuse to honor the third service. They're insisting we bring the car in after the service plan has expired.
That's never happened with any of our Toyota cars. What a dishonest business.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Do not buy VW
Spares

Verified ReviewerVw South Africa suck. I hate myself for have became a member of thi God forsaken company. I had been a loyal member of VW. Had own Jetta 2, polo, tsi, t5 caravelle, amarok and t6 caravelle.
I took my car for service in Trichardt for 150,000 km. My car came back with some noise from the engine.
My car used to start with a first kick, but now it takes 3 to 4 kicks to start. There is now a lot of noise from the engine. They refuse to rectify their mess. They break more than they fix cars.
All cars that they had fixed in Standerton had problems. They had to close the branch and move back to Trichardt.
- Dont want to hear their name
Preferred solution: They should fix my car
User's recommendation: Runaway as quick as you can from these people

They are a big company which can't solve problems done by their agents. More specifically this racist Trichardt Tri Sec Auto. They break cars rather than fixing them
